THE GUISE OF "TOUCH
NOT MY ANOINTED":
By Prof Ben Onyeukwu
The Scripture,..."touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm", has become a point of cover-up for certain notorious preachers, who deliberately disregard ethical values, in the discharge of their ministerial duties. Such morally bankrupt Gospel Ministers are often drawn into outrageous anger, whenever they are corrected of their unbecoming behaviour, which clearly, tarnishes the image of CHRIST and his Church.
In fact, these wolves in sheep clothing, at the slightest provocation, are known for appealing to the scriptures that seem to invoke fire from heaven against their offenders, as if they were called to destroy human souls, instead of saving them. But, the Apostle Peter, was different, when the Apostle Paul, who was a junior minister, reproved him of falling short of the ethical standards of the Gospel, which almost destroyed the faith of some members and ministers of the Church. In this case, the Apostle Peter did not appeal to his "seniority" or "anointing", but was calm, in humble acknowledgement of his moral pitfalls.
Likewise, JESUS CHRIST, our living example, prepared HIMSELF for the fact of the unprintable insults which people would rain on HIM, at certain stage in HIS MINISTRY, as He said to them, "you will surely say this proverb to Me, "Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard you did in Capernaum, do also here in your country". Also, JESUS CHRIST did not draw down fire from Heaven, when,..."the chief priests, mocked HIM, with the scribes and elders, said, "He saved others, but cannot save Himself, If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him". And, even when HE was accused of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub, HE did not curse anybody, but cautioned them against the blasphemy of the HOLY SPIRIT, after admonishing them.
Having cited the above, it becomes believable that, the "kill and bury" preachers under review, may not have been called to the genuine experience of repentance, before rushing into the pulpit ministry, probably for prestige or material gains. Equally, this Gospel Treatise, is not a License to the unruly individuals who take delight in abusing and accusing men of GOD, who they have no right to judge.
In conclusion, please, be informed that, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, is not the basis for arrogance or wickedness, as no person, no matter how highly placed, has the right to judge any servant of GOD, just as the Holy Scripture queries, "who are you to judge another man's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand". REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL! (See Psalms 105:15, Matthew 12:22-32; 27:41-42, Galatians 2:11-14, Luke 4:23 and Romans 14:4)
